Valerie Missick
Vocal Coach & Music Educator

Valerie Missick is a highly respected vocal coach and music educator with over 30+years of experience coaching singers and 24+ years of teaching music in both school and private settings. With a classical foundation, she specializes in jazz, R&B, musical theatre, gospel, and pop, offering voice training to students of all levels—from beginners to advanced performers and professionals.

Valerie offers both in-person and virtual lessons and uses a comprehensive approach to vocal technique, including breath support, tone placement, speech-level singing, classical technique, and vocal range expansion. Her dedication has led many of her students to earn full college scholarships, pursue professional music careers, and thrive on stage and in the studio.

As a high school music educator (grades 9–12), Valerie also teaches piano, clarinet, and saxophone, and leads choirs, ensembles, and full-scale school productions. Her classroom is a space where students are seen, heard, and supported. Her teaching philosophy centers on empowerment through music—cultivating each student’s confidence, creativity, and voice, while tailoring instruction to meet individual learning styles and needs.
Valerie holds a Bachelor of Music with a minor in Psychology (Jazz Vocal focus) from the University of Miami, a Master’s in Music Education with a specialization in Special Education from the University of West Georgia, and a Specialist degree in Music Education from Augusta University. She is currently completing her Doctorate in Music Education at Liberty University and will graduate in December 2025.

Music has always been Valerie’s outlet and anchor. As someone who found her voice through music at a young age, she is passionate about helping others do the same—especially students who feel unseen or unheard. She believes that music isn’t just a subject—it’s a life-changing tool for healing, growth, and connection.

The Voice is a powerful instrument, and with the right training, you can express incredible stories through beautiful music. I can help you find the inner freedom to convey both music and stories by teaching you the fundamentals. Lessons can teach you how to maintain your voice, advance it, or work on rehabilitation. Voice lessons are provided in person as well as online using Skype or FaceTime.

Piano Lessons will help you enhance your skills and stay focused on the technical and emotional components of effective playing, whether you are a beginner who has never played a chord or a student working through a more challenging piano concerto. So, grab a seat and prepare to tickle those ivories!
